Main Takeaway
Mortgage Automator integrates FCT ID Verification to help lenders securely verify the identities of non-corporate borrowers, ensuring compliance with FinTrac regulations while reducing fraud risks.
Overview
FCT ID Verification simplifies borrower identity validation within Mortgage Automator. This feature allows lenders to request identity verification via FCT's IDV service, where borrowers complete the process using the eID-Me Digital ID mobile app by
BluInk.
How to Request FCT ID Verification
Generating an ID Verification Request
Lenders can initiate an identity verification request for any borrower in Mortgage Automator:
Click the “Request ID Verification” button under borrowers in the main loan view, inline with the borrower's name.
A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to enter or update borrower details.
The system will warn you if another ID request exists for the borrower on a different loan.
Once submitted, a new ID Verification section appears under the borrower’s info, tracking all request statuses and history.
How Borrowers Complete Identity Verification
Using the eID-Me Digital ID Mobile App
After the lender submits the request, the borrower must complete the identity check using the eID-Me Digital ID app by BluInk:
Borrowers will receive instructions to download the eID-Me app.
The app guides users through:
Scanning their government-issued ID.
Completing a facial liveness scan for identity confirmation.
Borrowers have multiple attempts to complete the verification.
What Happens After Verification?
Receiving the Verification Report
Once the borrower completes the process:
A detailed PDF report is sent back to the lender in Mortgage Automator.
The report includes the verification status (pass or fail).
If a borrower has previously completed identity verification using eID-Me, they won’t need to repeat the full process. Instead, they can simply approve sharing their verified identity, unless they’ve deleted the app.
Note: Expiry and Data Retention
If the borrower takes no action, the request expires after 14 days.
FCT IDV data is deleted within 30 days from BluInk servers.
Borrowers can choose to keep their verification locally stored in the eID-Me app for future use.
